Co-Heirs with Christ: Magnificent Opportunity

“Who [indeed] is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” ~1 John 5:5

At the start of the New Year most people have a desire to “reset” their life with a New Year’s Resolution. There’s an obvious appeal to become a “better you,” except, what if I told you there’s a magnificent opportunity waiting for you not just at the start of the new year but at the start of each day?

You Are Co-Heirs with Christ

The Apostle John tells his readers that whoever believes that Jesus is the Son of God is victor over the world! With our true belief will come positive and negative consequences. Paul sums up these positive & negative consequences: “And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him” (Rom 8:17). The world will make us suffer even “though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him” (1:10b). But take heart! We are co-heirs with Christ and as co-heirs, the Victors! This is your magnificent opportunity each day to be a victor in life with Jesus Christ! Over the next three weeks, my devotionals will focus on Christ’s Victory from the beginning - Victory throughout time – Victory in defeat and how those victories can be meaningful in our life.
