Remember when you were a child and your birthday was coming up? I remember it was all I could think about as the day drew near: the delicious food, the mouthwatering dessert, the colorful boxes and bags filled with presents. It was a wonderful time, but the excitement always had to end until the next year rolled around.

Right now, we're looking forward to an eternal inheritance in heaven, pristinely preserved and waiting for us. Once we receive it, we'll enjoy it forever. It will be like celebrating a birthday that never has to end; we'll celebrate eternal life with friends and family, and most of all with our Creator, in everlasting peace and perfection.

Although as we get older we may not look forward to birthdays quite the way we once did, we still remember that feeling of anticipation. Don't lose sight of it. That feeling is only a small taste of what awaits us in heaven.
